Dear Readers,

Let me speak from the heartfelt concern I have for our nation.

For 12 years, I have been integrally involved in the Internet, first as publisher and editor of BuzzFlash and now as editor of BuzzFlash at Truthout.

As exciting as reporting on political and cultural news for more than a decade has been, the most important gift to me has been an evolving perspective on what needs to be done to create a nation and world that is concerned about the common good.

What I have learned is that no political promises can be trusted - and that we long ago reached the tipping point where the 1% controls the fiscal policies of our government and the world economy.

That is a formidable opponent to creating a sustainable world of economic justice.

But this I have learned too: without accurate information, perspective and commentary that pushes at the edge of the envelope, we have little hope for overcoming the long odds against a fair and just society and world.
