  • This year is the first year of the "age wave;" every eight seconds, an American will turn 65. In the coming years, more and more members of our communities will need care, just as more and more workers will need quality, dignified jobs.

  • In order to address this care crisis, we must first protect what we have: Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Home Care Jobs and Workers Rights must not be cut or rolled back.

  • We also must create what we need: new care jobs, labor standards for care jobs, training and career ladders for care work, a path to citizenship for care workers and support for families and individuals paying care costs.

  • Creating 2 million new jobs in home care will address both the care crisis and the jobs crisis.

  • Labor standards and improved job quality for both existing jobs and new jobs in care will help rebuild our economy

  • Providing training and career ladders for home care workers will help prepare workers for quality long-term jobs while ensuring high-quality care for those who need it.

  • In order to fill the care jobs we need, we need a new visa category and path to citizenship for care workers.

  • We need to provide support for individuals and families in need of support and care, including a matching registry and maintaining and creating new funding streams.
