Join us on September 21st for a National Day of Action in support of the DOL rule change to win basic labor rights for home care workers at the federal level.
In December of last year, President Obama and Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced a proposed rule change that would extend the Fair Labor Standards Act coverage to home care workers, providing overtime and minimum wage protections — but our work is not over!
The Department of Labor has not finalized the regulations and at this critical moment we need to take action by demonstrating to the DoL and Congress the widespread support for these regulations. On September 21st, NDWA is joining our partners Direct Care Alliance and Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice to let Congress know that the time is now! Domestic workers who provide the support and services that help people with disabilities and seniors live with dignity need respect and rights!
