We Belong Together. A Wish for the Holidays: That All Families Be Able to Stay Together

Dear Supporter,

Over the past month, thousands of children and youth all over the country have written letters expressing their wish for the holidays: an end to detentions and deportations so that all families can stay together. We’ve heard from around the country that the experience of writing these letters has been transformative for many young people. The letters are creative and touching, powerful and eloquent. Together, they will make an impact.

This is a historic moment: thousands of children are speaking out about the devastating impact of immigration enforcement on families. Can you help us bring their voices to Washington?

On Thursday, December 8th a delegation of children and adults will hand-deliver over 5,000 letters to members of Congress. The children who participate in this delegation will have an amazing opportunity to carry forward the wishes of thousands of other young people. Do you know young people in the Washington DC area who would like to join us? Please help us form a diverse and powerful delegation!

Anyone in the Washington DC area who would like to bring children and youth to participate in our delegation should contact Lisa Moore, lisa@domesticworkers.org, for more information. This event will begin at 10:30am and wrap up by 2:30pm.

If you are unable to be part of the delegation, we’ll look forward to sharing a report-back with you once the letters have been successfully delivered.

A Wish for the Holidays is a project of We Belong Together, a collaboration of women’s and immigrant rights groups dedicated to highlighting the impact of immigration enforcement on women and children. Go to www.WeBelongTogether.org/wish for more information.

Thank you for all that you have done over the past month to help us deliver this powerful wish! We hope you can join us on the 8th.

Warmly,
Miriam and Ai-jen
