Dear Supporter,

Will you #BeTheHelp we need on Oscar Night, February 26th, by hosting a #BeTheHelp Oscar Night Viewing Party?

That evening, the world will be watching to see if the film The Help, which brought the lives and struggles of domestic workers to a global film audience, will receive Hollywood's highest honor. At the same time, #BeTheHelp supporters will gather in living rooms across the country to watch the awards and celebrate the impact domestic workers have on our homes and families. We will be sharing stories about women like Laura Hernandez, a domestic worker and leader at La Colectiva in California:

Laura Hernandez

"I chose this work because I like it and because I want to show all of the people who might have thought that domestic work is insignificant and that it doesn't have the same value as that of their jobs. I want our work to be recognized, because domestic work has never been recognized. It is for this reason we are fighting, so that our work is recognized, that we are respected and, why not say it, that one day we are admired."

Laura is one of America’s 2.5 million domestic workers who are currently excluded from basic protections that most other workers have like minimum wage, workers compensation and overtime pay. At these special Oscar parties, we will also urge the California state legislature to take action now and enact the history-making CA Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (AB 889). If it is passed, it will create better working conditions for all of California’s domestic workers and send a powerful national message about the need for federal regulations.

Will you join us and host a #BeTheHelp Oscar Night Viewing Party?

Register your party now.
