National Domestic Workers Alliance #BeTheHelp Oscar Party

Dear Supporter,

Hollywood’s biggest night of the year — the Academy Awards — is around the corner. This Sunday, will you join National Domestic Workers Alliance and help us make some extra golden history?

Join NDWA this Sunday, February 26th to host or attend a special #BeTheHelp Oscar Night Viewing Party and help us pass the CA Domestic Workers Bill of Rights!

  #BeTheHelp

The acclaimed film “The Help” has brought the struggles of America’s 2.5 million domestic workers — including 200,000 workers in California currently engaged in an historic fight for labor protections — much into the public spotlight. The film and it’s stars are contenders for several major Academy Awards: Best Supporting Actress, Best Actress, Best Film. On Oscar night this weekend, in living rooms from Los Angeles and New York to the Caribbean and Hong Kong NDWA supporters like you will gather at #BeTheHelp Oscar Night Viewing Parties. We will root for “The Help” and take action together — including urging CA lawmakers to pass the CA Domestic Workers Bill of Rights.

Domestic workers do the work that makes all other work possible by caring everyday for who and what we love most — our children and aging family members, loved ones with disabilities and our homes. Like all workers, domestic workers should have basic protections — minimum wage, sick and overtime pay. But that’s not the case. New York made history in 2010 by passing the first-ever Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. California is now poised to follow that lead and in doing so, would send a powerful message to national elected leaders that federal protections are urgently needed.

Join NDWA this Sunday, February 26th to host or attend a special #BeTheHelp Oscar Night Viewing Party and help us make this extra golden history!

Together at these special gatherings, we will honor the domestic workers in our lives, share stories and connect with workers leading the fight in CA. You can join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter and our website — but only those at the parties will be able to participate in a special live-stream surprise.

Join us this weekend. History is ours to make and this Oscar night, we can win big!
