National Domestic Workers Alliance

It’s been an exciting Spring for all of us at the National Domestic Workers’ Alliance. Last week our members flew to Charlotte to stand with the members of the 99% who are organizing against Bank of America’s home foreclosures. Across the state of California our members celebrated Mother’s Day with a series of actions asking their legislators to support the California Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights to guarantee dignity, respect and labor protections for 200,000 domestic workers.

And this week is going to be just as big! We’re holding our National Congress in Washington DC from May 19th-21st.

The National Congress is a unique opportunity for domestic workers around the country to gather, share lessons, challenges, training and support. We expect 450 domestic workers from across the United States to attend. It’s also a moment for us to take action and demonstrate our power together. On May 20 and 21st, we will join with National People’s Action in taking action for a more caring economy that “puts people first.”

We’ll be sharing updates from the weekend through social media. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for live updates from the National Congress this weekend in Washington, DC.

We’ll be tweeting from @domesticworkers using the hashtag #ndwa2012. Like us on Facebook at facebook.com/nationaldomesticworkersalliance for updated photos and reports from the Congress.

Please join us on social media this weekend — we look forward to sharing this great event with you!
