Tell Congress to Support Bill To Stop Global E-Waste Dumping
Congress has just introduced a bill that would stop "recyclers" in the U.S. from dumping e-waste in developing countries. Please take a minute to send an email to encourage your Representative to support HR 6252. (Or send a thank-you email if he is already a co-sponsor of the bill.)

The problem is that most "recyclers" in the U.S. don't really recycle our old electronics. Instead, they ship them by the container load to developing nations, like China, India, Ghana, and Nigeria. There, the toxics inside these products cause great harm, contaminating air and water, and exposing workers and communities to horrible, harmful chemicals. Piles of trashed, unrecyclable electronics, like the one pictured in the Guiyu region of China, dot the landscape.
We need to stop dumping our toxic products on these countries. We have recyclers here who can process these products without resorting to that kind of practice. Plus, in passing HR 6252, Congress will bring some jobs back to the U.S. - in disassembly and repairs of old electronics.
