President Obama, make amending the Constitution a top priority.
President Obama has criticized the Citizens United decision, citing the possible influence of foreign corporate money over our elections. He's also said a constitutional amendment to overrule it may be necessary.
Now a new report in The Nation reveals that the American Petroleum Institute, a big oil lobby funded and directed in part by a Saudi Arabian oil company, gave almost half a million dollars in 2011 to groups that ran ads to influence America's recent elections.
This glaring case of foreign influence is a clear reason for President Obama to take the lead in our campaign for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.
Now, while the memory of $6 billion spent on the election -- and of the ugly, divisive ads that money bought -- is still fresh, is the moment for us to urge President Obama to lead on this issue.
