The federal Safe Routes to School program helps schools and communities make it safer for more children to safely walk and bicycle to and from school. This program is up for reauthorization as part of the larger surface transportation bill.  We need your help in building support for Safe Routes to School.

Senator Harkin has introduced legislation in support of the federal Safe Routes to School program (S. 800).  The bill proposes sustaining the program at the current funding level of $183 million and would make some policy tweaks to strengthen the program.
