Host or Attend a House Party to Write Comments to the DEC on Fracking Regulations

Given the overwhelming length and complexity of the DEC's proposed fracking regulations and the dSGEIS, paired with a difficult comment submission process, crafting comments can be hard for many people. It’s important that we all make comments exposing the proposal’s countless flaws and inadequacies.

Make comments on your own! You can submit comments to the DEC online here. We encourage you to use this great online guide to writing and submitting comments to the DEC. You can also submit comments by snail mail to: Attn: dSGEIS Comments, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, 625 Broadway, Albany, NY 12233-6510

Comment writing parties: Everyone will benefit from getting together in their communities across the state at public comment writing parties. We’ll all be able to share our expertise and help guide each other through the comment writing and submission process, ensuring that we get more and better comments submitted by the January 11th deadline!

Host a comment writing party! It’s easy – we’ll provide you with a guide to writing substantive comments and any other resources you will need. You’ll host a small group of people in your home or a public space (e.g. library, town hall, university or school, café) and use the guide and/or your expertise to help others through the comment writing process. One of our organizers will be happy to walk you through the process and guide beforehand. Comment writing parties should be around 1-2 hours long. You should invite lots of people you know, and we’ll also help promote your comment party.

Join a comment writing party! Sign up to attend a comment writing party and make your voice heard. You don’t have to be an expert on fracking or the DEC’s proposed regulations to make a comment - that’s what these parties are here to help you with. Be sure to take your friends and family with you, and bring some snack foods if you want to!
